João Gregório is Associate Professor and Vice-Director for Digital Transformation at CBIOS – Universidade Lusófona. He holds a PhD in International Health, with a specialization in Health and Development Policies, from NOVA University Lisbon (2016), and has an academic background in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
His research activities focus on pharmacy services and health services research, digital health, medication adherence, implementation science, and global health. His current work is focus on the development, implementation, and evaluation of digital interventions in healthcare, as well as with the digital transformation of research organizations and systems.
He has authored more than 50 scientific articles, with an h-index of 15 and over 700 citations. He has supervised or co-supervised 14 completed Master’s dissertations and currently supervises four PhD candidates in the final stages of their doctoral work. He is Principal Investigator of MobiMAd@PT, a project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, focused on the implementation and evaluation of digital technologies to support medication adherence.
He collaborates with international institutions and researchers and is actively involved in international networks in medication adherence and digital health. Within the ENABLE Network, he leads the Policy Working Group and is a member of the Steering Group. He is also a member of the Academic Board of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master HYGIEIA.
He serves on the editorial boards of Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy, Exploratory Research in Clinical and Social Pharmacy, and has served as Guest Editor for the International Journal of Health Policy and Management. His research has also contributed to initiatives with policy and professional practice impact, including the White Paper on Portuguese Pharmacies. He was part of the team who received the B.INOV 2.0 Award in 2024 and was distinguished with the first prize in the Research category at the 2026 Portuguese Pharmacies Congress.
