Research Scholarship – CONTEMFood Project

A tender is open for the attribution of one Research Scholarship within the scope of the project CONTEMFood: Contaminants in Meat Replacement Products – A Contemporary Food Safety Perspective, 2024-1.2.3-HU-RIZONT-2024-00098.

The conditions are the following:

Admission requirements:

Candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  1. Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  3. Proven research experience in the risk assessment of novel alternative protein sources
  4. Excellent command of the English language

Work Plan

  1. Preparation of samples for the determination of acrylamide and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs);
  2. Design and implementation of experimental laboratory protocols for the cooking of alternative protein-based products to meat and fish;
  3. Food safety risk assessment of cooked products prepared in the kitchen facilities of Universidade Lusófona.
  4. Contribution to the development and validation of a national questionnaire on dietary habits;
  5. Preparation of technical and scientific reports;
  6. Preparation, submission, and dissemination of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Applicable legislation and regulations: Research Fellowship Regulation (COFAC OS 98/2025) and the Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow (COFAC OS 97/2025).

Workplace: The work will be carried out at the facilities of CBIOS (Research Center for Biosciences and Health Technologies), under the scientific supervision of Prof. Maria do Céu Costa and Prof. Marta Esgalhado.

 Duration: The scholarship has an initial duration of 12 months, starting in April, 2026.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The scholarship amount corresponds to € 1.550. The scholarship payment will be executed monthly by bank transfer.

Selection criteria:

1. Experience and training drawn from the analysis of the Curriculum Vitae (50%)
2. Bachelor course grades and Master course grades (15%)
3. Scientific production in the specific area (35%)

Deadline: The call is open from 20 March 2026 until 26 March 2026.

  • Certificates of academic degrees

    publication record and research trajectory
