Maria do Céu Costa
Professor of Health Sciences and Technology.
She is currently Coordinator of Applied Research at ERISA – Escola Superior de Saúde Ribeiro Sanches.
MSc in Organic Chemistry Technology, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (as academic visitor at Imperial College, London, UK), got Habilitation (2008) at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon – Portugal.
She performs as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Portuguese Food Safety Authority (ASAE) and national representative at the Emerging Risks Exchange Network (EREN) of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
She has more than 100 publications, including patents and her main research interest is the Food Safety.
Nelson Rodrigues Tavares
PhD, Professor of Food and Human Nutrition.
He is currently Director of Nutrition Sciences Degree at Universidade Lusófona (Lisbon, Portugal).
MSc in Human Nutrition, Sheffield University, United Kingdom and PhD in Nutrition Sciences, Universidade do Porto, Portugal.
He is an American Society of Nutrition Member and has communications and publications in international peer-reviewed journals and meetings.
His main research interest is the impact of nutrients in Human Health.
Maria de Fátima Dias Alfaiate Simões, PhD, academic.
Her major research interests focus on the study of bioactive secondary metabolites from plants, mainly with anticancer and antimicrobial activities.
Finding new targets and/or new mechanisms of action is her final research goal.
She has a solid academic career carrying out research programs, supervising PhD thesis and having numerous publications in peer reviewed international journals, and giving regular and continuous lessons in Doctoral, Masters and Postgraduate courses at the Lisbon University.
Maria João Cebola
Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, Lisbon.
First degree in Technological Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Lisbon University.
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Imperial College of Science and Technology, London University.
Post-Doc in Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE), Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Her current research interests are on SFE applied to plant matrices to obtain compounds of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical interest.
Sónia Centeno Lima
Biologist, MSc in Health and Development and PhD in Biomedical Sciences.
Associate Professor at the Universidade Lusófona.
Main research interests are about epidemiology and control of intestinal parasites and nutrition-infection.
She is also dedicated to public policies for food and nutrition security and has extensive experience in research and teaching in african lusophone countries.
Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias.
First degree and PhD in Chemical Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
MSc. in Biotechnology (Biochemical Engineering), Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon.
Her main research interests are in evaluation of components with pharmaceutical and nutraceutical obtained by supercritical extraction techniques as well more conventional methods, for comparison purpose.
