Patrícia Rijo

Msc, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Chemistry at Lusófona Group (ECTS and ERISA, Lisbon, Portugal) since 2001.

She is a member of Phytochemical Society of Europe and Sociedade Portuguesa de Fitoquímica e Fitoterapia and has several communications and publications in International peer-reviewed journals and meetings.

Her main research interests are natural products isolation, identification and biological activities screening namely antimicrobial, antioxidant, general toxicity, anti-inflammatory and inhibition of acetylcholinesterase.

Maria do Céu Costa

Professor of Health Sciences and Technology.

She is currently Coordinator of Applied Research at ERISA – Escola Superior de Saúde Ribeiro Sanches.

MSc in Organic Chemistry Technology, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (as academic visitor at Imperial College, London, UK), got Habilitation (2008) at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon – Portugal.

She performs as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Portuguese Food Safety Authority (ASAE) and national representative at the Emerging Risks Exchange Network (EREN) of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

She has more than 100 publications, including patents and her main research interest is the Food Safety.

Fátima Simões

Maria de Fátima Dias Alfaiate Simões, PhD, academic.

Her major research interests focus on the study of bioactive secondary metabolites from plants, mainly with anticancer and antimicrobial activities.

Finding new targets and/or new mechanisms of action is her final research goal.

She has a solid academic career carrying out research programs, supervising PhD thesis and having numerous publications in peer reviewed international journals, and giving regular and continuous lessons in Doctoral, Masters and Postgraduate courses at the Lisbon University.

Paula Pereira

Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias.

First degree and PhD in Chemical Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.

MSc. in Biotechnology (Biochemical Engineering), Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon.

Her main research interests are in evaluation of components with pharmaceutical and nutraceutical obtained by supercritical extraction techniques as well more conventional methods, for comparison purpose.

Marisa Nicolai

António Raposo

Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias.

He graduated in Nutritional Sciences in Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz, 2009 and obtained his PhD with European Mention in Animal Health and Food Safety from the University Institute of Animal Health and Food Safety, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 2013.

He is member of editorial board and invited reviewer of international peer-reviewed journals in his research field.

His main research interests are: Studies on the utilization of Catostylus tagi jellyfish in health sciences, particularly as a food ingredient; Food habits and food safety evaluation, particularly in vending machines; Techniques to evaluate cleanliness and disinfection in dairies.
